Palm Coast’s & Flagler Beach’s Salt Water Canal System!

In Palm Coast and Flagler Beach there are Salt Water Canals and Fresh Water Canals. Saltwater canals consist of  “Sail Boat Country” canals, and “Motor Boat Country” canals. To navigate these waters you need a team of Experts that can help guide you with accurate information to ensure you don’t run aground when buying or selling your waterfront home! The Duffy real estate Team can do just that! We have assembled a team of experts to ensure smooth sailing when buying or selling your canal front home!

Canal Sections

Palm Coast is divided up into sections. The 23 miles of saltwater canals can be found in the C section and parts of the F sections in the subdivision of Palm Harbor. The saltwater canal sections are numbered: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 14, 15 & 16

Bridges.

There are four bridges in the Palm Coast salt water canal system. There are three bridges in section 16 located at Colorado, Colchester & the Yacht Club. There are no bridges in sections 14 & 15 (sailboat country) and boaters living in sections 2, 3 ,4, 5 & 6 have one bridge to navigate at the marina.  It is extremely important to have a team of experts working for you who know the difference between each section.

Sailboat Country.

Large vessels need to be in “Sailboat Country.” (Section’s 14 & 15). There are no bridges to navigate here! The canals are generally wider and deeper and fast access to the Intracoastal Waterway can be had from the two main canals.

Buying or Selling a Salt Water Canal Home is different than buying or selling a typical property.Canal Homes are a very specialized market, and you need a Realtor who can help you navigate the Purchase or “Sail” of your property.  The Duffy real estate Team is comprised of a team of experts who have handled numerous Real Estate transactions involving waterfront properties; we are Analytical types who use extensive research and databases to forecast market conditions. Intracoastal Waterway & Ocean Access.

Access to the ICW from the saltwater canals can take anything from 2 minutes (Sailboat Country) to 45 minutes depending on the section of canal you are located in, which is why you need the Duffy real estate Team, the Saltwater Canal Home experts to assist you inchoosing the right property that best suits your boating needs.

Ocean access can be had from St. Augustine (approx. 25 miles north) and Ponce Inlet (approx. 40 miles south). Access can also be made from Matanzas’s Inlet (approx. 10-15 miles north of Palm Coast) depending on boat size and tidal conditions.

Flagler Beach Canal System

The saltwater canal system in Flagler beach is sandwiched between the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. There is fast access to the ICW from all the Flagler Beach canals.

Marinas and Launching Ramps

The Palm Coast Marina, located in the heart of the Palm Coast saltwater canal system, has 80 slips, a ships store, fueling station, and a launching ramp.

There are three public launching ramps in Flagler County; the first is located conveniently at the foot of the St. Rt. 100 Bridge in Flagler Beach called Flag Ship Harbor. The second is located just off A1A at Bings Landing just north of the Hammock. Both have adequate parking for vehicles and trailers and allow for launches of a wide variety of vessels directly into the Intracoastal Waterway. From Bings Landing a short ride to the north grants access to the Atlantic Ocean through Matanzas Inlet. From Flag Ship Harbor you can access the Atlantic Ocean to the north at Matanzas Inlet or you can sail south and access at Ponce Inlet. In addition to the two launches above, Herschel King Park offers a launching ramp on the west side of the Intracoastal Waterway accessible from Colbert Road in Palm Coast.
